1st stop ~ Rhode Island

This is my first post to MUSAP! My first photo adventure took me to Rhode Island. I went to see Island Moving Company's summer Great Friends Dance Festival, Meredith's final performance with the company.

I decided to explore Green Animals Topiary Gardens in Portsmouth with my camera as my first MUSAP stop. Thanks go to Jon for suggesting that I visit Green Animals.
The gardens are part of the Newport Mansions and are maintained by the Preservation Society of Newport County.

There are a series of gardens behind the Brayton House. You can tour the house as part of your admission. The property overlooks Narragansett Bay.
There are formal gardens, cutting gardens, and vegetable garden. There are fruit trees. Carefully planted borders and arbors accent the gardens.
There were bees and butterflies everywhere. The butterflies were not cooperative photo subjects.
The gardens are family friendly with many paths to follow, benches where you can sit and relax, and rocking animals to amuse children.
There are many different pieces of topiary around the gardens. Some are animals and some are geometric shapes & designs. These bears were my favorites. The topiary pieces are made from privet or boxwood.
